Since our inception in 2008, Behavioral & Educational Solutions (BESDC) has positioned itself as a leader in mental health and social support services for children and families in the DC Metro area. We are a clinician owned multi-disciplinary team of psychologists, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, social-workers, and behavioral analysts providing support, resources, solutions, respite, and education to families. Mental Health Counselor:

Duties include: 
  • Practice of Applied Behavioral Analysis such as direct therapy, supervision of behavior analysts, functional Behavior Assessments, Behavioral Observations and Behavioral Evaluation. 
  • Plan and organize structured programs of therapy, work, study, recreation, or social activities for clients. 
  • Obtain client information through interviews, observation, or tests. 
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on Clinical experience and professional knowledge. 
  • Act as a client advocate to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crises situation. 
  • Consult with family members and school personnel to assist them in understanding and dealing with patients. 
  • Refer patients, clients, or family members to community resources or to specialist as necessary. 
  • Gather information about community mental health needs or resources that could be used in conjunction with behavioral therapy. 
  • Assess patients for risk of suicidal attempts. 
  • Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients’ treatment. 
  • Maintain client diagnostic records including Federal and State mandated forms. 
  • Coordinate workshops & courses about behavioral health issues using technologies such as Test Interpretation Software, Client Information Data Base Systems, and Scheduling Software. 
  • Update knowledge by reading professional literature, attending professional seminars, and maintaining contact with other social services. 
  1. Must be Licensed Behavior Analyst in State of Maryland by Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists. 
  2. Must have Master’s Degree in Special Education with major in Applied Behavior Analysis, or Psychology with major in Applied Behavior Analysis.
